Robyn O’Brien, “The Unhealthy Truth”

by Chamaigne Montana on March 3, 2010

Robyn Obrien Safe food activist Robyn O’Brien will speak to Writers’ Voices this Friday 3/5, 1pm and Monday 3/8, 8am on KRUU (http://www.kruufm.com).
We think you’ll be interested in her fearless book exposing some things about the food industry th at the “powers that be” would rather you not know. The Unhealthy Truth addresses questions like, “Why have American companies like Wal-Mart and Kraft Foods taken GMOs and many dangerous ingredients out of their European products, but left them in American products?” (That’s right. Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is safer to eat in England than it is in the U.S.!) This is a very sharp and conservative lady who was both slow to believe the truths she uncovered, and compelled by love for her children to keep searching, weighing, and revealing these facts about the food industry that we all need to know.
Robyn O’Brien, is being called “The Erin Brockovich of Food”.  She is a conservative Texan with an MBA who used to roll her eyes when finicky parents talked about their children’s food allergies and special diets. Then her own children started having severe allergy problems, and she was catapulted into a research project that changed her life. In her book, The Unhealthy Truth, she lets us in on the secrets of GMO foods, the revolving door between the FDA and the food industry, and much more.
