Writing is usually a solitary pursuit, and to publish a book requires a great deal of individual effort. There are pluses and minuses to that fact. The plus is that success is largely up to the writer, especially with the current self-publishing options, and the minus is.. it is largely up to the writer. Writing a screenplay requires much of that same individual effort of course, but finishing the script is only half the battle. Or much less than half. On Writers’ Voices this week, Monica and Caroline explore what it really takes to get a movie made with screenwriter and movie producer Caterina Titus, or rubystarproductions.com.
Caty co-wrote the social political feature “Pyarr” with well-know BBC documentary film-maker Stuart Tanner, as well as the romantic dramedy “Between Worlds.” Scripts in hand, she has traveled around the world to forge connections and recruit the various players required to make a feature film. It is a long journey, but the result – a feature film- is truly an accomplishment.
