Jenny Lacoat speaks with WRiters Voices about – The Girl from the Channel Islands – a World War II novel based on real events
“The channel islands were the only ( part of Britain) that was occupied during the war…. The islanders were left completely defenseless against the might of the Wehrmacht (Nazi.s)”
“This was a story that had kind of been buried for a long time. (It) really came to public attention a few years ago, when Dorothea, who is one of the main real characters in the book, was awarded a Yad Vashem award for her assistance during the war, in helping to keep Hedy alive , with enormous personal courage.”
