“If I have the true version of a scene or a story I stick with that….you cannot make anything up that is more interesting or rings truer than the truth.” Martha Hall Kelly talks about her writing and researching of historical fiction with her latest novel – Lost Roses. “The more I find out about the hidden history, the more I include (in my books) I mean we learn about it .., but in such a cursory way, I love the real story.
This is why I wrote in first person, you can just get into the head of the character. And with so many things like Netflix,.. you know that’s my competition frankly, and I feel like if I can write a book that kind of takes you into that same place, I’ve done my job.
No one really makes it alone and so have a grateful heart and be quick to acknowledge those people that help you along the way.
