The Paris Apartment author Kelly Bowen talks about how she got started “When I had my first son I was on maternity leave and I actually sat down and thought, ‘I should try writing a novel. I love writing. Now seems to be a good time to do it’…. I love history, so I decided to write a historical fiction novel and it was awful. I finished it and it will never see the light of day.
Then I wrote another one, and .. another one and…I just kept writing. I loved the process. It was an excuse to read history books. It was the best kind of homework. I just loved the actual writing process. It’s like anything, you just need practice.”

The best thing about…writing historical fiction, is that you can be inspired by little parts of history; and just borrow little pieces and parts, and then tell your own story. Use it as a spring board.
The death of hope is a truly awful thing, those that could keep that hope always, .were real heroes.
