“Rob said to me, ‘Don’t think of what’s best for you, think of what’s best for your readers; because your readers want to learn more about what autism is, what kind of an impact you have on others, and more importantly the educators and the parents of kids who have autism…this is going to impact them the most. So don’t think about what’s best for you the author, think about what’s best for your reader.”
Rob Ianne talks with WV about what it took for him and his collaborator Rob Keast to write his memoir – Centered; Autism, Basketball and one Athlete’s Dreams,
“I told Rob when we first connected, I said, ‘ You know I really want to get as much detail in there as possible about what autism is. Get as much detail as I can in there about what I went through growing up on the spectrum, as a young kid; because there are a lot of basketball fans, especially Michigan State fans who know my story; but they don’t know the entire gist of my story which is .. all in Centered. I really want to show people, you know, yeah I had to scratch and claw my way to get to Michigan State, but at the same time I had to do even more scratching and clawing as a young kid to get to where I’m at today.”

You define who you are. Autism has always been a part of my life and it always will be, but it doesn’t define what I do tomorrow.

I say the world would be a boring place if we all had the same abilities.
