Laura Galloway and her memoir – Dalvi – Six years in the Arctic tundra. … “I made a trip to the Arctic and I absolutely loved it…. it was such a profound juxtaposition from the life that I was living in New York,….
..During my travels to the Arctic … I met a reindeer herder … And we started along distance relationship …Things were really coming to head in New York. I was really burning out on work .. And so the reindeer herder said, “Come live with me in Kautokeino.” And I thought,” You know I’ll go for a few months and see what it’s like. ” And in the dead of winter, that first winter, the reindeer herder left, he broke up with me and I was faced with the decision, do I stay in the Arctic or do I go. And I stayed for six years.”
