This episode of  Writers’ Voices features George A. Ellis, the author of “A Symphony of Silence: An Enlightened Vision.”  George’s transcribed interviews of  some of the pioneers of the Transcendental Meditation movement offer an in-depth look at the many ways that individual lives have been impacted by TM.  George himself  introduced TM into Folsom Prison and other correctional institutions around the world, and the stories of some of the men who learned to meditate behind bars are among the most moving sections of the book.  George’s wife, Dominique Ellis, also shares her story with us today.  Dominique was the national TM leader for Guatemala.  Her  influence on this book is apparent in the attention devoted to the feminine.

Although  “A Symphony of Silence” is nominally about Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, it is really a collection of stories of individual lives, from hardened convicts to loving families, from government officials to elderly nuns, covering almost every facet of human experience, from the mundane to the sublime.
