in Fiction Writers by
Christina Dalcher on her new novel – Vox. “It’s a dystopian novel about what happens when a particular faction gains power and decides to silence a large portion of the population…. I did write Vox with a particular faction being in charge and a particular faction being oppressed, but it could have gone the other way. I could have used anyone….The real message in Vox is…we need to pay attention…to what is going on in the world around us… Look how easily someone could take over your life…Use your voice while you still can”

Silencing can come from all kinds of different factions, in Vox it happens to be from the right but we’ve also seen in recent years, we’ve seen a lot of silencing from the left….Intolerance doesn’t always come from one side.

Wisdom means knowing what to do. Ability means knowing how to do it. Commitment means doing it and conviction means knowing why you’re doing it.
