Mark Lukach talks with Monica and Caroline about the writing of his new memoir – My Lovely Wife in the Psych Ward. Composed by sifting through the pages and pages of emails he sent to their parents during her episodes. “The writing about this actually became a way for us to appreciate the differences of each others experience but also to acknowledge how much we needed to treat this like a shared illness. Like we needed to approach this together.

My hope is that someone reading this will learn about mental health, for sure. but I also think that any one in any relationship has had a crisis…unfortunately bad things happen to people we love, so I like to think at the core what this book tries to look at is… how did we try to work together to not let that bad thing ruin our relationship.

If you are someone people count on, particularly in difficult moments, that’s a sign of having lived a life honorably.
